Quaker Bonnet

Before Treatment

The back of this straw bonnet had become unaligned with loss located at the left side.

During Treatment

Contact humidification was utilized in a three dimensional format kept in place with life magnets. This allows for slow even humidification in only the areas needing to be realigned

After Treatment

JJapanese paper coated with rice paste was used for the final compensation.

The bonnet was installed on a custom mannequin head and installed in Fashioning America: From Grit to Glamour at Crystal Bridges Museum and later traveling on its head to The New Orleans Museum of Art.
